A Catholic Church (Our Lady of the Lake, Mandeville, LA) had endured an unimaginable feedback problem for nearly a year. The Pastor wished to use his mic while standing in the nave of the Church, an activity which sent his new, expensive public address system into immediate oscillation. The Church’s Youth Director was so angry over the issue, that he "Did not want to see the Sound Contractor set foot on the premises, ever again."

As a last resort, I was called in, as a Sub-contractor to examine the problem. It was hoped that by re-aiming the loudspeakers, the systems stability could be improved. Without even hearing or evaluating the system in person, I advised the Contractor forget about moving the loudspeakers, and to purchase a Polyfusion Model 755 Feedback Controller instead.

Once the Model 755 was installed, the public address system worked flawlessly. The increase in gain before feedback was tremendous. The system could now tolerate multiple wireless microphones in the sound-field. In fact, the system could only be forced into oscillation by holding a microphone 4" from the face of the loudspeaker.

The Model 755 is not a license for sloppy, haphazard microphone and loudspeaker placement. The Model 755 is a tool that can transform a marginally stable, "ringy" public address system into a rock solid champ. In three years of use, I have yet to find a feedback problem that the Model 755 could not solve. I can’t believe everyone isn’t using it.

Just a quick note to tell you how pleased we are with the performance of the Model 755. We have specified the other popular devices which notch frequencies, and these certainly have their uses, however we have found that in all non-music applications, the 755 is bulletproof.

Recently, there was an affair on Madison Ave here in New York that involved a major entertainment company, with the Mayor’s office giving an outdoor presentation. The 755 allowed us to crank up the gain to almost the point of system distortion, so loud that even the cabbies stopped to look! (and many of them don’t speak English!)

I would advise anyone looking for a knee-jerk specification/headache eliminator, the 755 is the answer.
